Best Seating Choices in Patio Furniture

in Outdoor Seating

Some people are lucky enough to live in areas where they can enjoy the great outdoors all year long, others only have a few summer months. Regardless of your situation, creating an enjoyable atmosphere, for your relaxing time outdoors, requires comfortable and satisfying seating. Whether your outdoor experience consist of eating outside, just relaxing or entertaining, patio seating areas can be a fun place to spend time and to show your style.

You must first consider the area where you will locate your seating area. The ideal place for an outdoor bench might be in a shaded section of your back yard where your favorite plants are growing, it could be near a pool, or you may have a deck or terrace well suited for the purpose.
Outdoor benches are a great way to dress up an otherwise drab area of your garden

Regardless of where you will locate your chairs or garden benches there are many patio seating styles and materials to consider.
They offer functional seating and are ideal for enhancing your backyard living. Because we tend to move benches less frequently they offer even more choices of materials than chairs. They can of course be made of the same woods and metals as chairs but you can buy benches made of concrete and stone as well. Marble and granite outdoor benches are very popular choices in spite of a higher price, they give you the assurance of life time durability and beauty.

Should you opt for Adirondack chairs, or as Canadians call them, Muskoka chairs? They are very popular, can be made of plastic or wood and usually feature a rounded, slightly slanted back, a contoured seat, and oversized arm rests that provide relaxing patio seating. This is a classic design that first appeared in 1903 and is still much appreciated today, giving proof to its superior suitability for great comfort. Through the years it has seen some modifications and today it is even available in a love seat. Both modern and vintage Adirondack chairs can be purchased.

Personally I have never been able to pass by a rocking chair without taking five. I cannot think of anything more relaxing than a comfortable and romantic rocker, it brings to mind the image of people rocking back and forth on the porch at the twilight. Should you choose one made of wicker you will never have to worry about its maintenance even if you leave it outside at the mercy of the elements. They do come in all shapes, sizes and woods, including Redwood or Southern Yellow Pine. These chairs offer an ergonomic benefit, by keeping the body in an unstressed position and angle, that cannot be matched by other form of seating. Today’s rocking chairs include varieties mounted on a spring base.

Chaise lounges (also known as chaise longue) come to us from the french. They are chairs that are long enough to support the legs. When buying a lounge chair the length is important especially if you are tall. More so than with any other kind of outdoor seating the material is important as this kind of chair is made for long time relaxing, even napping. If the rocker made you think of a porch, the lounge chair will take you on the deck of an ocean liner. If you have fond memories of a cruise you took long ago this chair is sure to be taking you back to a happy relaxing time.

We cannot really include the gentle somnolent feeling one gets when swinging on a porch or outdoor swing, or relaxing in a hammock after a hard day of yard work, in our seating topic but hammocks and swings are a great addition to a patio or garden and should not be dismissed as possibilities.

Regardless of your choice of seating | Garden Benches | Adirondack Chairs | Chaises Lounges | Rocking Chairs | it must fit your family’s needs and satisfy your sense of esthetics and style.
