Patio Umbrellas Help Protect Your Furniture

in Patio Umbrellas

Most people tend to buy expensive patio furniture and subsequently leave it outside year-round, exposing it to bad weather, animals, and sunlight.  Why not make a small investment to protect your original investment and keep your patio furniture useable for a much longer period of time?  Outdoor furniture can and will last a lot longer with a few steps taken to protect it.

Sunlight, surprisingly, can be very detrimental to your patio furniture. Just like how exposure to the sun eventually burns you, fabrics in patio furniture become faded from too much sunlight.  The structure of your furniture, depending on what it is made of, can also become weak from overexposure.

Letting your furniture sit through countless rainstorms can lead to rusting sooner than you would like.  Fabrics and pillows can become smelly and moldy, and not to mention stained.  A homeowner is basically asking for their furniture to be too gross to use without taking steps to protect their set.

An easy solution to these problems is investing in a patio umbrella.  This is a cheaper solution to a full-scale patio cover.  However, some are a bit smaller than your patio’s size, meaning you have to research and decide which type is best for you so your furniture can be covered.

The most basic type of patio umbrella is the kind that goes right into your table.  This can do a great job of protecting your table and possibly some furniture around it, depending on its size.  Unfortunately, not all patio tables have an umbrella stand, so this may not be an option for some.  This is a good idea for those to are trying not to spend too much money to protect their furniture, as well as people who want a removable and cleanable cover that is very easy to use.

There are also patio umbrella kits that can be purchased.  These attached to a patio or deck railing and work just like a table umbrella, except for the fact they are clamped to your railing.  This is a great choice for people who don’t have a stand in their table.  The downside is you need to keep your furniture close to the railing in order for it to be protected.

A final type of umbrella is a freestanding one.  This is another good idea for people who don’t have a table hole for a pole.  This patio umbrella is held up by a movable base that you can place wherever you would like on your patio.  This way, you can move it over your furniture before a rainstorm, or keep it elsewhere when you want to bask in the sun.
