Using the Adirondack Chair in Design

in Uncategorized

Adirondack chairs symbolize the outdoors and provide a great look for any backyard. The Adirondack chair received its name from the location it was created, the Adirondack Mountains. Thomas Lee, the inventor, constructed the chair with 11 pieces of wood forming a straight back and slanted seat. From a simple necessity of a seat, this man set a standard of outdoor seating over 100 years later.

Now Adirondack chairs come in many different flavors. The classic cedar Adirondack chair sets a natural feel for your seating. These chairs are made of 100% wood, making them blend in with the surroundings. If you are, still looking for this feel, but not the same price tag engineered or processed wood chairs are also available. Engineered wood also will not leave you with any splinters as with natural wood. The only problem with these wooden chairs is that they are subject to the elements. Animals, weather, and people alike were strain the chair and eventually it will show its age. Plastic Adirondack chairs, on the other hand, stand the test of time itself. These chairs are not only durable, but they are also affordable. The price tag on the plastic chairs generally is the lowest out of every “variation.” Another benefit of having plastic chairs is the fact that they can be engineered in a rainbow of colors. What they lack in natural looks, they more then provide in styles.

As unique and natural as a chair may be designed, looks do not compose what it means to be a “chair”. Comfort of the chair comes as the first priority. A chair without comfort is not a chair, but a decoration. In stating this, a common complaint about Adirondack chairs was the fact they were uncomfortable. This solution came as simple as they come. Cushions were specially designed to provide that missing comfort, but to complete the chair as a whole.

The Adirondack chair in its many styles is the perfect seating solution for the outdoors. Thomas Lee did an excellent job of creating this chair. It goes to show you is idea is as natural as the chair itself!
